Well here’s a breakup I did not see coming. For the longest time, it’s a tradition to get treated with a Porsche to your plane whenever you fly Lufthansa First Class. Back then, you could even borrow one and drive it around Germany for long layovers.
It’s a great excuse to explore Germany. The feeling of First Class starts well before you even get on the plane.
At their flagship lounge in Frankfurt, you can even collect a limited edition Porsche rubber ducky for souvenir.
Afterwards, there’s another Porsche that drives you to your plane. It’s one of the best ground experiences you can have for commercial flights.
Starting Jan 2025, all that is going away. While I’m sure the next automobile brand will be just as nice, there’s something je ne sais quoi of having a Porsche drive you to your plane. It’s a heritage and tradition I’ll dearly miss on my next Lufthansa flight.
