Ritz Carlton New York

From the mile high luxury in Hong Kong to the tropic paradise in Koh Samui to the urban escape last week in Chicago… all Ritz are unequivocally not created equal. In this case, Ritz Carlton New York Central Park is (unfortunately) no exception.

Booking

Consistent with luxury hotels in New York, this hotel tends to be exorbitantly priced for cash bookings. For example, weekday rates tend to hover around $1000 USD for standard rooms.

If you have Marriott Bonvoy points, you can redeem around 112K points for an award night here. Thankfully, availabilities tend to be easy to find.

Room

For Miki personally, check-in experience was blah. The service was robotic & disappointedly there was no proactive recognition of her lifetime platinum status with the Marriott program. The “meh” “blah” continues as she opens the door to her standard room.

The hotel underwent a recent renovation too, so it’s disappointing to see the shower heads still not have a rain shower option. Only the granite flooring tiles were updated.

Location

The best amenity is its location. The hotel is located at the prime real estate of New York with breakfast views right across Central Park.

At night, you can easily take a leisurely stroll with Manhattan as your backdrop.

If you crave the city energy, you can take a short walk to Time Square too.

Overall, the Ritz Carlton New York Central Park was a meh stay. For its price, we personally find much better value at the St. Regis New York and Park Hyatt New York. No matter how good the real estate is, there are certain amenities that should be expected when room rates are commanded at $1000+ a night. That being said, New York is still a great city to visit no matter how blah the Ritz can be.
