As I grow older more mature, I find myself appreciating the value of rooms with a view. Right across the Huangpu River, the glamorous W Shanghai The Bund shines and screams money as it presents unobstructed panoramic views of modern China from your hotel window. It makes it feel like it’s more than a room – it makes it feel like you’re more connected to your destination.

Booking
Just like the Shangri-La, St. Regis, and The Shanghai EDITION, it was not worth booking the stay with points. On average, it costs 65,000 Marriott Bonvoy points/night while cash rates is about $300/night.
Mathematically, that’s 0.0046 per point which is less than 0.5 cents in value. Thus, it was an easy decision to simply book this stay with cash.
Fabulous Room Pearl Tower
There are only a handful of hotels in the world where the view takes our breath away. W Shanghai, you have been added to the list. Chloe got so excited she sprinted towards the bedroom window when we entered the room. The XL chopsticks and 小籠包 decoration was a nice touch to the cultural/food heritage of the destination.

早安 Shanghai

Breakfast
On brand with W hotels, breakfast is served daily at The Kitchen Table on the lobby floor. It’s a massive spread of pastries and Western cuisines.

There’s also a Chinese section too. Chloe was in an extra mood for xiao long baos.

After a lot of noms, you can take a quick stroll to the Huangpu River or take an epic nap by your “room with a view” $$$$ window

Overall W Shanghai exceeded my expectations. Its prime real estate paired with its brand’s designs maximizes Shanghai’s skyline in a luxurious way that is a sight to behold. Even though we didn’t get upgraded to a suite, our room’s panoramic view of Pearl Tower was absolutely stunning and we find ourselves chilling in the room and just taking it all in. If you ever visit W Shanghai, make sure to get this room with a view.
