The Private Room by Singapore Airlines (2024)

The Private Room is Singapore Airline’s most restricted lounge at Changi Airport. It’s been six years since our last visit, so we were quite excited to see how the new space got redesigned for Singapore Suite Class passengers.

Access

This lounge is exclusively for Singapore Airlines First and/or Suite Class passengers. You cannot have access via status. Partner airlines are also not allowed in. On top of that, no guests are permitted. Geez… they really want this place to be private

But once you meet the access requirements, they are quite flexible in how long you can stay in the room. For example, I had an overnight layover in Singapore — upon arrival, I was able to enjoy this lounge for dinner and breakfast the morning after.

Dinner

Dinner was quite a spread in the private restaurant. I ordered the roasted duck, dim sum, and assorted satay for the table.

To pair the meat, I chose the Château Léoville Poyferré Saint Julien 2006, which is a lovely french wine.

Since I was craving something American, I ordered the Wagyu burger too.

Shower

The Private Room features a posh shower suite that rivals 5 stars hotels. Pro tip, choose shower room #3. It’s the corner suite with slightly larger square footage than the other two showers. Shampoos, conditioners, lotions are luxuriously decorated with Lalique amenities.

Hotel Room

That’s right, there’s a hotel room within this lounge. If available, you can reserve these beds in the Private Room. It even comes with a play room for families.

It’s an ultra posh Tempur-Pedic® mattress. The only downside is that it’s a twin size bed, so it’s tough to roll around if you’re a light sleeper. I guess Singapore Airlines don’t want anyone to get fancy ideas in the hotel room… 😉

Breakfast

The next morning I started the day with a hot cappuccino. You can choose the beans you like ranging from Jamaica Blue Mountain, Sumatra, or even Columbia.

I ordered the Singaporean congee and American breakfast which was soulfully divine.

For dessert, I did a champagne tasting. Yes it’s morning, but hey it’s a $250+ bottle champagne each. Can’t turn these $$$$ down.

Overall the new Private Room at Singapore Airlines is a great upgrade to its space at Changi Airport Terminal 3. While it doesn’t have the fancy Porsches to drive you to your plane, it follows its similar design cues of the past providing the fanciest amenities garnished with understated luxury. Its flexibility in staying at the hotel rooms overnight is appreciated and it’s a great way to have two fancy meals (and shower 😉 ) before your Singapore Airlines Suite Class flight
