Since this is Coachella month, it’s quite fitting to talk about a property within the festival area: The Ritz Carlton Palm Springs
For those unfamiliar with this region, it’s California’s playground for shopping, films, and festivals. The cinematic arid landscape makes this place perfect for a weekend trip (alternative to Vegas) for Californians.

It’s not everyday that you go on a fancy staycation with the whole family. Luckily for our wallets, Paul’s birthday isn’t during Coachella, because this is one of the most expensive property to stay this weekend!

Of course, this month is just a one-off. All other weekends, you can practically get two rooms at this price. Thus, Miki & Paul’s parents generously decided to book two adjacent rooms to accommodate our large group. That said, it’s still a little pricey. But on special occasions, it’s ok to splurge a little with good company 🙂

As we stroll in the lobby, the hotel receptionists (sticking with the Ritz Carlton tradition) welcomes us with a round of champagne for check-in. We opt for both rooms to have two queen beds.

As we slide our window door, we see our adjoining outdoor terrace & fire pits. During our stay, we occasionally use this communal area to socialize and visit each other’s rooms.

Nearby, there are additional hammocks for some relaxation that Miki & Paul’s parents thoroughly enjoyed.
A must-do in this area (besides Coachella of course 😉 ) is to check out Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Rising 8500 ft above elevation, it is the largest rotating aerial tramway in the world.

The landscape at the top is spectacular. There are over 50 miles of hiking trails to choose from. There are moments we stop briefly just to take in the view.
In the land of awe, there are always time for some silly family fun 😉
From the picturesque Coachella Valley to the comfortable service & rooms, this Ritz Carlton proves to be a luxurious family retreat. Even though the two rooms didn’t blow us away, the property somehow feels like a desert oasis magically planted in the middle of Palm Springs.
Overall, everyone had a bear-tastic memorable weekend.
Thanks Ritz Carlton! See you next time.
