EVA & China Airlines Award Upgrade Explained (2026)

Taiwan tends to fly under the radar when it comes to its own airline loyalty programs. Its quirks and unusual features in using your miles makes most travelers avoid it altogether. As a result if you’re willing to go thru the hurdles (like Chloe studying Kumon), this creates niche redemption opportunities when it comes to booking Business Class with good availability 🇹🇼

EVA Air Business for multiple travelers

Citibank credit card(s) is the only transfer partner for EVA Air Infinity Mileageland program. The program is weird because it gets complicated when you’re redeeming miles for multiple travelers. First step is to create a miles account for every passenger traveling. And yes… that includes 7 years old Chloe

Second step is to enable “Online Service” function to your account, so you can access this quirky redemption feature.

Still with me? Alrighty, third step is to add the companions to your “nominee list” so it’s linked to your account. Once linked, it takes 24 hours for it to be reflected.

China Airlines Business for multiple travelers

Unless you have Taiwan credit cards, there are currently no transfer partners for China Airlines Dynasty Flyer program in North America. Nevertheless, this year the program finally made a massive improvement where you no longer need to enable “Online Service” via fax/email like EVA Air. On top of that, you can now transfer miles for free from Dynasty member to another.

They also made award inventory easier where you can see it directly on the website instead of using third party tools. Input your origin/destination/date/number of passengers etc.

If available, a blue airplane seat will be next to the cabin class. If waitlist, a pink airplane seat will be next to the cabin class. Here’s an example below for May 2026

Overall, this is a high level overview of how to “Award Upgrade” for EVA & China Airlines. The niche quirky program definitely has an IYKYK aura to it. Business and First Class redemptions can be hard to find on popular programs, but if you know where to look… there are still fun treasures out there for miles
