Trick definitely not a treat… Thai Airways sadly dropped the news that it is slowly phasing out its First Class in favor of plans to upgrade its Business Class experience. So today, we’ll share and imagine together in what it will look like when the airline converts the front row into Royal Silk Business Class.
Royal Silk Business Class
Its newest aircrafts are arranged in 1x2x1 staggered configuration, which means the seats won’t be created equal. If you want more privacy, it’s better to sit in the odd numbered rows since you’ll be closer to the window than the aisle. For reference, Chloe is row 3 while I’m row 4.

Since this flight was to Japan, there are special themed catering like bento boxes and steak for this route.

The seat itself can be converted to a lie-flat bed, which feels like a private cocoon for kids. For most of the flight, Chloe had the seat in bed mode to roll around.

The entertainment infotainment was adequate with limited selections available for kids. For Chloe, she definitely preferred her cartoons over Thai Airways in-flight screen.

Overall, Thai Airways Royal Silk is a decent way to travel across Asia. While not revolutionary, it has potential in enhancing its experience by elevating its soft products such as its catering and infotainment system. Only time can tell to see how this airline will evolve as we say goodbye to its First Class.
