Park Hyatt Milan

Located in the historical heart of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the main draw of this Italian hotel is its prime real estate. It’s akin to the Park Hyatt Kyoto where it blends seamlessly with the cultural surroundings and it’s steps away from the most visited attractions. Since we only had one night in the city, we decided to stay centrally here for convenience.

Booking

With cash rates over €1000+/night, staying here is certainly not cheap. With the standard room being only 35 sqm, you’re essentially paying almost €30 euros per sqm per night.

Good thing you can transfer points to Hyatt to book this stay. At category 8, we redeemed an award stay at 40,000 points/night for the Park King room.

Park King

Sadly unlike the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile, we did not score a crazy upgrade for this stay. Our standard Park King room was also located on the first floor which Miki did not appreciate. I forgot just how small 35 square meters can really be — our luggage felt like it took a third of the bedroom.

Fortunately, the bathroom is where the room really shines. It is tastefully decked out with floor to ceiling travertine marble with a high pressure rain shower that even has a stone bench for you to sit inside.

There’s also a private spa downstairs for hotel guests. Since it is rarely used, it felt like an extension of the bathroom. On both visits, we had the entire steam room, sauna, hot tub, and showers to ourselves.

Location

For first time visitors, you will appreciate being a stone throw away from all the tourist attractions. With the hotel being so central, it is possible to conveniently experience Milan in literally one night. You can roll out of bed in your casual attire to swing by places that people spend an entire day to visit.

Terrazza del Duomo

Like the Park Hyatt Kyoto, it’s also an opportunity to see famous places virtually empty as if you’re in a movie. Just look at the background of Miki versus a stroll around the Galleria close to midnight when the city is about to sleep. I guess that’s why our tiny room is 1000 euros a night…

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Overall, the Park Hyatt Milan’s is an expensive luxury hotel with prime real estate. Your wallet definitely feels the crunch. At over €1000 euros (or 40,000 points) per night, it’s hard to justify the value of a 35 sqm room even with all the comfortable amenities. That being said it is no doubt the best location in the city. If you don’t have much time for the commute, the Park Hyatt could be worth the occasional splurge for a one night experience in Milan.
