Roku Kyoto LXR Collection Japan

Kyoto has a bussin’ lineup when it comes to luxury hotels you can book with points. Starting with Hilton, the Roku Kyoto is the first of its kind for the brand’s LXR collection in Asia. It’s a design forward hotel that blends its architecture with the Kyoto mountains.

Booking

If you have Hilton points, you can book a standard room starting at 110,000 points/night.

For this specific stay though, we decided to book cash since we had AMEX Platinum’s $200 hotel credit expiring the end of the year. Notably, you also get additional perks like daily free breakfasts, guaranteed 4pm late checkout, and $100 USD on property credit. Using Chai Bear travel math, that’s like “50% off” 😂

Premier Deluxe King

You know a hotel is fancy when there’s no check-in desk. Instead, you are escorted to a tea ceremony “Chashitsu” room with a hot towel, which sets a relaxing zen feel to the stay.

To our delight, we got upgraded to the “Premier Deluxe Room King”, which is an expansive room on its top floor that overlooks the natural landscape of the property.

I love the earthy tones of the room. Even the bathroom sink looks like two big stone bowls from mother nature.

Tenjin Restaurant

Tenjin is a French restaurant that’s the main dining accommodation for Roku Kyoto. Since we didn’t book the spa, we decided to use all of our property credits here. The restaurant proactively gave Chloe a bunch of arts and crafts to play with, which is appreciated.

Happy Hour is also at Tenjin, which is all covered under the property credit(s) too.

Even though it’s a French restaurant, it’s still recommended to order the Japanese sets for breakfast. We are in Japan after all!

Natural Hot Spring Pool

This is the only hotel in Kyoto that offers a natural hot spring pool for hotel guests and we took full advantage of it. It may be winter outside, but the onsen pool is geothermally steamed with comfort.

Mountain Garden

The property has nice walking paths along its mountains.

As you walk down this trail, there are cute little local gardens that’s great to explore. Our favorite is the Bonsai garden next to Aman Kyoto.

Overall, the Roku Kyoto serves as the perfect sanctuary for meditative luxury. Combine that with its natural landscape and Japanese hospitality, the Roku Kyoto felt like a fancy 24 hour yoga session for your mind and body especially after a long transpacific flight.

For Hilton Diamonds especially, this wellness retreat is a must visit.
