Coachella AMEX Platinum House

Hello from Coachella! The next two weekends are California’s hurrah to music, arts, and dance. It’s a star studded festival and a very “see & be seen” crowd. Something I’m way too old for…

Hotel rates during this time are unsurprisingly atrocious. In fact, last year @ The Ritz Carlton Palm Springs, the room rates went up to almost $1000 USD per night!

Luckily at these weekends, there are a couple of venues/hotels that host special “invite-only” events where people can mingle without the need of an expensive hotel stay and festival pass. Yes that’s right, you don’t need to spend $1000 USD per night plus $500+ festival entrance fee to feel the Coachella vibe!

This year (the former SPG property) Parker Palm Springs is hosting a special event for AMEX Platinum & Centurion members called “The Platinum House” where the cardholders get to relax, dance, & mingle with each other under the Palm Springs desert sun.

Entrance here is straight through the hotel’s lobby. In front, cardholders simply show their Platinum/Black card for entry. Each cardmember can bring up to 3 guests per admission.

Careful not to jump in their hammocks. Paul here gets a little too excited and nearly collapses… (smh)

Way too hot for a camp fire… but nice to have the option.

To glam up for the festival spirit, complimentary makeups are provided for girls (and adventurous guys…)

Dancing at festivals must be rough, because massages are available as well…

Hungry?  Hors d’oeuvres & delicious tacos are available throughout the venue.

Thirsty?  AMEX gots you too. Paul opted to double fist the chilled Rosé & muddled lemon cocktail.

As we walk into the main area of the Platinum House, Julia Michaels (American songwriter) performs on stage. Not a bad way to double-fist a Rosé!

Among the audience, is the socialite The Points Guy himself, Brian Kelly.

After her performance, Paul decides to do an imaginary “DJ Tooth” set for his fictional audiences…

Overall, AMEX did a fantastic job in marketing & making their most premium cardmembers feel special. Obviously, this isn’t the main perk of having an AMEX Platinum or Centurion Card, but in the loyalty world, it’s the little things that matter the most!

speaking of little things, AMEX travel gift fanny pack upon leaving

The festival makeup, the open bar, the complimentary massages, a personal live concert (by Julia Michaels), and an ample lounge area all makes for a special & luxurious way to sample a taste of Coachella.

Count me in for next year.

Thanks AMEX.
